Significant secular choir robes for many French boys’ choirs
As far as the secular choir attire of French boys’ choirs is concerned, its origins can often be traced back to 20th-century French school uniforms. Characteristic elements such as polo shirts, shorts, jumpers and sleeveless slipovers bear clear similarities to the traditional school uniforms of French educational institutions.
School uniforms have existed in France since 1802. Catholic educational institutions, in particular, continued to uphold these traditions to some extent.2692
